A wet weekend for Formula Ford at Croft The unpredictable English weather made for another exciting weekends racing at the North Yorkshire circuit this weekend. Heavy hailstones rained down just before the first race on Sunday creating a wet track and with it a few incidents. Starting from Pole position, Team JLR's Joe D'Agostino lost out to Jamun Racing's Charlie Donnelly in the race for the first corner and in fighting for the lead was caught out on the wet surface dropping to 5th but managed to work his way back to finish in 3rd place.
Jonny Baker took 2nd place in the Scholarship Championship ahead of Sarah Playfair after an unfortunate spin trying to dislodge Steve Roberts from the Scholarship lead position. "I was right behind Roberts approaching Tower and saw an opportunity to pass him and thought to myself I had to go for it but unfortunately I had a spin. I'm just pleased to have finished second" Jonny told us afterwards. Thor-Christian Ebbesvik ended the race in 7th position after a great drive from the back of the grid with guest driver Andrew Bentley enjoying a thrilling race, crossing the line 4th overall and claiming driver of the day award for his efforts.
Race two of the day and with Joe on Pole position once again, the aspiring young American had a better start - exiting the first corner leading the field. However, Donnelly managed to get past Joe on the fourth lap of a hard fought battle - the pair breaking away from the rest of the field; Joe taking second place. First place in the Scholarship championship went to Team JLR's Jonny Baker after making a brave overtaking manoeuvre on the inside of Sarah Playfair at The Complex and holding off Steve Roberts after Roberts had a spin earlier in the race. Andrew Bentley rounded off his weekend with a 5th position overall and Thor-Christian 7th. Andrew - being the winning guest driver now has free entry to the next rounds in Knockhill in a fortnight's time racing with Team JLR.
