Team JLR to run a 5-car assault on the The prestigious Formula Ford Festival is this coming weekend 21st to 23rd October 2005 at its usual home since 1976, of Brands Hatch in Kent.
Past winners of the annual event have included Formula One drivers Jenson Button (1998), Mark Webber (1996), Eddie Irvine (1987) and Johnny Herbert (1985). 2004 Team JLR racer Dan Clarke was able to add his name to the list last year when he took the Team's first Festival win. This year, Team JLR are hoping to repeat the success with one of their five drivers who will be entering the competition. As well as the regular 2005 UK Formula Ford Championship runners Joe D'Agostino, Jonny Baker and Thor-Christian Ebbesvik, Australian Formula Ford Racer Nathan Caratti and returning Japanese ace Kenji Otaki will be joining the squad. Otaki made a guest appearance with Team JLR at Brands Hatch on 31st June this year following impressive test sessions at Castle Combe and Silverstone. It will be Caratti's first event with the Team.
D'Agostino finished fourth in last year's festival - just 3.034 seconds behind winner Clarke, and is hoping to take the win himself this year. "It will be nice to get out and have a crack at the Festival again. I was the dark horse last year - a lot of people didn't think I was going to go that well there and when push came to shove I was on it." Said D'Agostino. "I think I've learned quite a lot since then. I know when the time's right now [to make a move] with another year of experience and hopefully it works in my favour." The provisional timetable for the weekend is as follows: Qualifying for Heat 1: Fri 21st Oct at 14:30 hrs (15 mins) The times are subject to change. Race results will appear here soon after each event. |
